What is THOR?

THOR is a structured, evidence-informed mental health and wellbeing program delivered through facilitated group sessions. It supports participants to build identity and self-awareness, emotional regulation skills, healthy relationships, and resilience to life challenges.

Designed for South Australian youth and culturally diverse communities, THOR is delivered in partnership with youth services, AOD programs, community organisations, and multicultural programs, meeting people where they already are.

Why THOR?

THOR responds to key gaps in the current system:

Limited early intervention programs for youth and diverse communities
High demand on clinical and crisis services
Need for culturally responsive approaches to wellbeing
Youth disengagement from traditional mental health services

How it works

THOR runs over 6–8 structured sessions of 90 minutes each, in groups of 10–15 participants. The program is non-clinical and prevention-focused, building capacity before crisis point.

What does THOR stand for?

THOR is a guided journey through four areas of wellbeing:

T

Thoughts

Exploring how we think, what we believe, and how our inner narrative shapes our wellbeing.

H

Heart

Connecting with our emotional self: how we feel, process, and care for our hearts.

O

Openness

Cultivating openness to growth, change, and community, shedding what no longer serves us.

R

Resilience

Building capacity to navigate stress, loss, and change, and to create healthier futures.

THOR is not therapy. It is an educational and reflective group program that supports participants to reconnect with themselves and their community: practical, grounded, and culturally responsive.
